The Israeli Sighthound Club (ISC ) is one of the oldest members of the Israeli Kennel Club (IKC). The club is a non govermnetal organization aiming to promote and encourage sighthound dogs in Israel. Special efforts are made on the local desert bred, the Saluki.

The Israeli Sighthound Club was founded in 1968. At that time, only local Saluki and imported Afghans dogs (from the famous Turkuman Kennel) were represented in Israel.

In the early 1970's new breeds were introduced to Israel: Greyhounds from Switzerland and England, Whippets from Holland, England and the United States, and Borzoi from Germany and England. The 1980's saw the arrival of the Pharaoh hound, the Italian Greyhound and Irish Wolfhound, however, only the Italian Greyhound gained popularity among Israelis. The great immigration wave from Russia in the 1990's brought many Borzois , however, local breeding declined steadily during the years thereafter.

The Israeli Sighthound Club holds 3 shows per year. In addition, the club adjoins the IKC in additional exhibitions (Hunting and 2 International shows). We encourage registration and tattooing of desert bred Salukis. Review and tattooing is also done to all other sighthounds breeds.

Coursing is also part of our activity, with periodic trainings on weekends from November through March.

Social events are organized from time to time for our members like hikes, mountain bike trips and picnics.
The Club is managed by volunteers elected in a yearly general assembly.
